Why we love Urea
Urea is an active ingredient that our podiatrist Neda raves about due to its many beneficial properties. Firstly, it is a keratolytic. This helps to improve the appearance of patches of dry, rough, scaly skin in two ways: by providing hydration to smooth the skin's texture, and by helping to reduce callus buildup.
Urea also has antifungal and antimicrobial properties. These properties in addition to its high moisturising capacity and keratolytic effect make it an ingredient we advise our patients to look for in their foot creams (always consult with your medical practitioner, dermatologist or podiatrist first and be mindful of allergies).
At Podiatry Beyond we stock a variety of foot creams that contain varying concentrations of Urea. As each product contains different concentrations of urea we recommend discussing your needs with our team.
If you have any concerns about dry skin, callus build up, psoriasis, or scaly skin on your feet we encourage you to book in with our Podiatrist for a general assessment.
